Matt is one of the longest serving members of the Camp Leaders team, and someone you've probably spoken to in his role as Sales Manager. He first went to camp in 2014, and having spoken to thousands of summer camp applicant's since, is one of the best placed to tell you about a summer in America.
What summer camp did you go to?

"I went to Camp Kinder Ring, which is a couple hours north of New York City."
When did you go to Camp Kinder Ring?
"I went to Camp Kinder Ring for the first time in 2014."
What job role did you do at Camp Kinder Ring?
"My initial role was as a camp counselor, which I loved.
I then became a Head Counselor in future seasons, taking on more responsibilities around camp."
Before you flew out to camp for the first time, how were you feeling?
"I was very excited about the prospect of travelling to America for the first time.
Understandably, I was slighltly nervous, but Camp Leaders did great to prepare me and make me feel at ease."

What is your favourite summer camp memory?

"In my second year at camp, I got awarded Olympic leaders, which is a big award at camp for your recognition for all of your hard work.
It was something I was very proud of and it’s a memory that really does stick with you for life."
What's one thing they don't tell you about summer camp?
"When it rains, it pours!
The weather is often incredible, but on the odd time it rains, it absolutely tips it down!"
What's your advice to those going to camp for the first time?
"Get stuck in with every activity and give 110% every day.
The summer will go by so quickly, so make the most of it and do enjoy every moment."
