If you can think of it, you can teach it at camp.

There is no limit to what you can teach at summer camp. Sports, arts, even drone flying (yes, really!). Whatever your passion, there is a role for you.

Prefer a general counselor role?

You don’t have to teach a skill to work at camp. You can be a camp counselor, an all-round role where you support campers each day, join them in activities, and help them feel at home. It is a role full of variety, energy, and connection that helps make camp unforgettable.

Frequently asked questions

I can't see my activity, can I still apply?

Absolutely! With hundreds of summer camps around the country, each of which hire staff for their own various activities, there's a strong chance your hobby or passion is a role in at least one of these. We've placed everyone from rocket specialists to drone fliers, so we're confident we'd place you, too.

Do I need experience teaching kids my activity?

Experience teaching kids is a bonus, but isn't required. A lot of our activity specialists have been part of a particular sport, hobby, or passion in a participation way, or have taught to fellow adults. This is absolutely fine, as with the right attitude and then training at summer camp, you'll then be able to lead campers.

If I'm an activity specialist, do I just focus on my one area?

Yes, as the leader in a particular area, you'll be based at your chosen activity area each day, whilst camp counselors bring rotating groups of campers down for different sessions throughout the day. This allows you to specialise and lead effectively, as often there's extra requirements, such as safety, to deliver.

I haven't taught or led an activity before, is that okay?

We're looking for people with the right attitude and passion for a particular area. This will far outweigh the fact you may not have led or taught it before. For example, if you love wakeboarding and consider yourself pretty good, we're certain you can go on to be a great leader at summer camp.

What's the difference between an activity specialist and camp counselor?

An activity specialist is someone who focuses on teaching or leading a specific skill at camp, like sports, arts, drama, or waterfront activities. Their main job is to plan and run sessions in their area of expertise, helping campers improve and enjoy that activity. A camp counselor is more of an all-round role. Counselors spend most of their time with a group of campers, joining them in different activities, supporting them throughout the day, and making sure they have a safe, fun, and memorable summer.
