Facilities and accommodation.

These summer camps are highly accessible and built for all kinds of campers - so everyone is welcome.

Most accommodations will be in cabins, and these camps have a higher camper-counselor ratio, so you'll have a lot more support during the summer. Meals will typically be served in a mess hall or lodge as well, which end up being super fun, family-feel events.

Activities at special needs camps

These camps do everything they can to offer their campers the same incredible summer experience, complete with all the activities.

Most special needs camps will offer a full range of activities. Working with special needs campers can be demanding, but you'll have lots of support from your fellow counselors, and you'll love seeing campers overcome their challenges.

It may seem a little daunting at first, but you'll receive specialised training and have more support from your fellow counselors.

The campers

Campers may have a range of needs, as you'll be working with people who need physical and/or mental & emotional support. You don't necessarily need experience working in a special needs setting - just an openness to providing support and compassion.

These campers require more support, so you'll have a highly varied job - your role may include helping campers to eat and bathe, as well as helping them get around camp if they're in a wheelchair or have another physical limitation.
